Turn scientific literature and your results into a clearer research direction.
SciScrape is an AI-assisted research workspace for finding scientific literature, analysing project documents and results, and reviewing drafts with linked evidence.
Search the major databases at once · every finding linked to its source · never trained on your documents
The product
Explore a saved research example
Browse a saved search on enzymes in baking, the project evidence built from it, and a draft check on a fictional manuscript excerpt. You can open every original source; nothing on this page runs a search or a model.
Saved run of 2026-08-19. Five queries returned 498 records; after removing duplicates 480 remained, and 342 were kept after the relevance filter. The eight papers below were chosen from those results; each DOI was checked on Crossref on 2026-09-30.
Show the five queries
- "dough" AND ("amylase" OR "xylanase" OR "protease" OR "lipase" OR "transglutaminase") AND "baking"
- "bread quality" AND "enzymes" AND ("staling" OR "volume" OR "crumb")
- "flour" AND ("glucose oxidase" OR "hemicellulase" OR "phytase") AND "dough"
- "enzymes in baking" OR "enzyme application in breadmaking"
- ("amylases" OR "xylanases" OR "proteases" OR "lipases" OR "enzymes") AND "dough rheology"
Only Crossref, Europe PMC and OpenAlex appear as sources for these eight papers. Not every source contributes to every search. The score describes how well a paper matches the search, not the quality of its evidence.
How it works
From a question to a checked draft
1 · Find
Search multiple sources at once
Search OpenAlex, Crossref, Europe PMC, arXiv, Semantic Scholar and CORE together, merge duplicates, and snowball from the papers that matter. Every result shows how it was ranked.
Literature research →2 · Work in a project
Ask your own sources
Keep papers, spreadsheets and draft chapters together, then put cited questions to SciScrape Agent. Every answer points to the document, sheet and page it came from.
Import selected Google Docs and Sheets into your project (checking availability…).
SciScrape Agent →3 · Check the draft
Review before you submit
Run a pre-flight and an audit on a manuscript or thesis chapter, check journal fit, and gather reviews from your supervisor or colleagues. You decide what to adopt.

A research workflow with visible evidence
SciScrape keeps an inspectable research record alongside your AI conversations: where each source was indexed, how relevance was scored, and the document passages supporting cited findings.
Why this paper matched
Application of enzymes in the quality improvement of whole wheat products: Effects on dietary fibre, dough rheology and gas phase
Scores describe how well a record matches the search criteria, not the intrinsic quality of evidence. Values from the saved example above.
Linked scholarly sources
Results come from scholarly APIs, with DOI or source links when available.
Merged duplicates
The same paper returned across multiple indexes becomes one canonical record with available metadata and open-access links; full-text availability varies.
Visible provenance
Every result lists the query, the databases that returned it, and the lexical/semantic scores behind its ranking.
Saved research strategy
Search terms, filters, and seed citations are stored with run IDs so you can inspect how results were reached.
Documents stay attached to sources
Inside a project, answers cite the specific document, sheet, and page number they were drawn from.

Trust & security
Your research stays your research
Ownership and access
You keep ownership of every uploaded PDF, note, draft section and generated analysis. Your data is partitioned by project.
External AI processing
Relevant document text and search queries are processed by external AI providers when you use AI features. SciScrape does not train models on your private documents.
Human review
SciScrape never modifies your original documents or applies edits for you. You inspect each suggestion, verify the linked citation, and decide what to adopt.
Frequently asked questions
Do you train models on my documents or manuscripts?+
No. SciScrape does not train models on your private documents. When you use an AI tool, only the text necessary for that specific action is processed by external AI providers. See Data security for provider details, encryption, and boundaries.
What happens to a manuscript or draft I submit for audit?+
It remains strictly private to you and any collaborators or reviewers you explicitly invite. It is never indexed for search by other users, shared publicly, or redistributed.
How is SciScrape different from a general AI chat?+
General AI tools can also search and work with documents. SciScrape queries scholarly databases via APIs, preserves search provenance, and grounds project answers in your own documents with clickable citations.
Does the relevance score tell me whether a paper is good?+
No. The relevance score measures lexical, semantic, citation, and recency match against your search query. It does not measure scientific truth or experimental quality; that assessment remains the researcher's responsibility.
Can I cite a SciScrape search as part of my methodology?+
Yes. Every search run preserves an immutable ID, query terms, applied filters, and contributing sources. The PRISMA export generates standard screening flow diagrams for your methodology section.
Can my company use SciScrape for industrial R&D today?+
You can use today's public literature and document tools for permitted research tasks. A dedicated industrial workspace connecting internal SQL, LIMS, and instrument systems is currently in development; see the For R&D page.
