Credits pay for actions such as searches, snowballing and audits. Separately, some features have their own quotas (for example audits or PDF fetches per month) that credits do not extend.
Two different dates. A subscription renews on the day you first paid. The monthly credit budget resets at the start of each calendar month, so the two dates usually differ. A pass has neither: its credits last for the whole pass and it ends on its expiry date.
A pass raises limits only inside its own project and manuscript. It does not unlock API access, and legacy passes keep the terms they were bought under.
Which one fits my work?
Answer in this order: what you need to do, what it involves, and how often you will use it. The estimate uses the same credit costs the product charges. What it is for (thesis, paper, industry) never changes the price.
